Stu Fuchs weaves virtuosity, humor, audience participation and soulful musicianship into his uplifting performances. His music spans jazz, world & original styles with playing that is both meditative and exciting. Stu is a heart centered, award winning musician and teaching artist. His passion is helping others to learn to play music with greater ease, freedom and joy. His Folk Project fans have the utmost praise for his performances at The Acoustic Getaway, NJ Uke Fest, and The Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series and look forward to his streaming Stayaway premier.
Over a 25 year career, Stu has performed gypsy jazz with symphony orchestras, presented workshops at Uke festivals worldwide, facilitated drumming & music improvisation for everyone from children to inmates, to Fortune 500 CEOs.
Stu also toured to three continents performing guitar with renowned sacred chant artist Snatam Kaur. He recorded on her Grammy-nominated 2018 release “Beloved”.
For eight years he worked as a professional artist-in-residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY, where he offered healing music and different creative therapies for patient, families and hospital staff. In 2014 he was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to create music & films documenting his work offering healing music at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
A long time practitioner of meditation, Stu is passionate about sharing music as a practice for health & well-being. His playful, inspiring and holistic teaching method of “Ukulele Zen” make his workshops and online clinics a not-to-be-missed experience. Stu’s workshops playfully encourage students to deepen their awareness of the present moment and the mind-body-spirit connection which allows for enhanced listening, increased creativity and greater ease in playing.
Stu continues to offer weekly lessons and music inspiration at his YouTube channel “Ukulele Zen” and presents his music workshops and retreats at music festivals holistic centers around the world.
