“Chip Mergott is one of my favorite songwriters,” according to Bonnie Raitt.
Chip is a Bucks County, Pennsylvania-based singer, songwriter, teacher, and author. He is a born storyteller, both with his songs and the stories behind the songs. After spending time as a member of the legendary “Bittersweet” who later morphed into “Baillie and the Boys,” a band that racked up five Top Ten singles on RCA’s Nashville label, he was signed to London Records. As a protégé of Bonnie Raitt, Chip recorded “Bridges,” an album produced by James Taylor’s producer David Spinozza. As the years have gone by Chip has become an unofficial member of the Taylor family, having written songs with both Livingston and Kate.
Mergott’s latest book is a collection of short stories entitled“There Must Be a Better World Somewhere.” Livingston Taylor recently stated: “This is a wonderful book…Chip is the real thing…I recommend this piece of writing highly.”
