Dave is a founding member of our own Folk Project, and he nowadays leads the Acoustic Stayaway’s Songwriter Circle every Thursday at 7pm. Dave started the program decades ago as an independent, monthly workshop that offered supportive group analysis for songs in progress. As a weekly streaming workshop, his Songwriters Circle today offers a cadre of songsmiths continuing support, advice, and education in their art and craft, in addition to camaraderie and connection in our time of isolation and separation.
Kleiner has been known to perform with his life and musical partner, wife Liz Pagan. Her voice adds a richness to Dave’s music. Together, they have released three CDs of original Kleiner songs. They have been heard nationally on Mike Flynn’s Folk Sampler, Dr. Demento’s radio show, NPR’s Car Talk, and many other radio shows across the country. Dave’s song Here’s To The Rocky Road, co-written with Steve Gillette and Dennis Dougherty, appears on Steve’s album Texas and Tennessee on Redwing Records.
